The workshop

Cast iron, kept honest.

We sell a short line of cookware from Hong Kong: cast iron that seasons into something better every year, stainless that stays bright, carbon steel that asks for nothing but dry air. This site is operated by Tianyan International Trade Limited. This page is the ledger of how the pieces reach you.

The range

Fifteen pieces, and that is the whole catalogue. A 26 cm dutch oven that braises without scorching, a 25 cm skillet with a helper handle for one-handed lifting, a 27 cm ridged grill pan, a tri-ply stock pot, a carbon steel wok, a gooseneck kettle. Nothing here needs an app. If a piece stops earning its shelf, it leaves the range.

The metals

Bare cast iron, enamel-coated cast iron, 18/10 tri-ply stainless and pre-seasoned carbon steel. Cast iron weighs more and holds heat longer; tri-ply stainless heats faster and behaves better with wine and tomato. We publish oven-safe ceilings per piece, and we say plainly which pans take induction and which do not.

How a run is made

We start with a sample from the foundry, cook in it for two weeks, then argue about wall thickness and handle length. A skillet that is too thick never reaches temperature; too thin and it warps on a high gas ring. Only after the sample passes do we book the production run, usually eight to twelve weeks, and the pour date decides when we can ship.

Quality control

Every carton is opened in Hong Kong before it is sealed again. We check for casting pits, wobble on a flat plate, enamel chips at the rim, and loose rivets. A riveted handle is tested by hand, not by eye. Wooden utensils are checked for splits and sanded edges. Roughly one carton in forty is set aside and returned to the supplier.

What we do not do

We do not drop-ship from a marketplace listing, we do not relabel someone else’s pan with our name, and we do not hold stock back to push a price up. We are not a department store, so we cannot promise the same piece in every colour forever. When a coating is discontinued we say so rather than quietly substituting it.

Packing and lead time

We hold a working stock in Hong Kong and normally pick and pack within three working days of an accepted invoice. Cast pieces are boxed with corner blocks and a foam ring so the rim cannot take the whole load; glass lids are sleeved separately. Air freight is three to seven days, sea freight four to six weeks, and the exact date comes in writing before you pay.

After the sale

A care card goes in every carton: how to season, how hot the oven may be, why the pan must not go into cold water while it is hot. If a casting cracks or a lid arrives shattered, photograph the packaging the day it lands and we cover that freight. Unused pieces come back within fourteen days; a used, seasoned pan cannot be resold, so it cannot come back for a change of mind.
